When a product has more than one manual discount in Deal Management, the discounts are applied one after another, each to the price left by the previous one. A discount's place in that sequence depends on how it was added.
Where each discount is placed
- Bulk discount (Bulk Discounts window → Add new): placed first, ahead of all discounts the product already has.
- Single discount (Add New in the product's discount list): placed last, after all discounts the product already has.
- Negotiate Price (product level): saving a negotiated price keeps only Override discounts and replaces every other discount on that product with the negotiated discount.
- Basket Negotiate: overrides all existing one-off and recurring discounts.
- Editing or deleting Bulk discounts (Edit / Delete tab) does not move the other discounts. Discounts cannot be reordered in the discount list.
Other rules that affect the order
- Override discounts are applied before the other manual discounts.
- With charge-level discounting enabled (
discountChargesin DM-AppSettings), discounts on a specific charge are applied before product-level one-off and recurring discounts, regardless of the order they were added in. - With parallel discounting enabled (
parallelDiscountsin DM-AppSettings), every discount is calculated from the same starting price, so order does not change the result, and a percentage always applies to the undiscounted price.
Example
List price 453.38. A user negotiates to 400 (a 53.38 discount), adds a single discount of 50, then a Bulk discount of 50%. The Bulk discount is placed first: 453.38 × 50% = 226.69, minus 50 = 176.69, minus 53.38 = 123.31 (not 175).
To apply a percentage after the other discounts, add it as a single discount (Add New) after them. Apply Negotiate Price before adding other discounts, because saving a negotiated price later removes them (except Override discounts).
Applies to Deal Management 36.37 and 36.41 (R36 Maintenance Release 1) and 38.0.14 and 38.0.15 (R38).
